What do you do to help you feel free, to remind yourself of the childlike wonder of playing, to dwell totally in the moment and to enter the flow state where time passes without you noticing it? Do you pursue an activity that helps you to forget all the responsibilities that come with adulthood? 

If you are like many of my clients, such an extra-curricular activity can come last on a never-ending to-do list as you run from A to B to C, often putting everyone else's needs above our own.  It is easy to simply forget to serve the part of us that already knows how to have fun and be totally at ease in our bodies, minds and in the moment. The most common response to these questions I hear is, "I don't have time.'' The truth is that you don't have time NOT to create positive habits in your life that make you happy. When you are happier, everybody around you is too.  

For me, the current activity that helps me to feel forever young is a contemporary dance class I started in September last year at Dance Theatre of Ireland in Dun Laoghaire. Robert Connor (pictured above) is one half of the team along with Loreta Yurick who both founded the company in 2001. I feel honoured to have Robert as my teacher as he is a shining, dancing example of what self-care and following your passions can do for you. 

Robert teaches his students with gusto; his positive energy, vivid imagination and obvious physical fitness as a dancer are inspirational. Between you and I ( yes, I do have Robert's permission)  Robert discreetly told me he has just qualified for the free bus pass! If that doesn't convince you to follow your passions and to make time for yourself a priority, I'm not sure what will. 

Dance Theatre of Ireland has an amazing range of classes from contemporary to ballet to jazz that you can book into for ten weeks or simply pay as you go. They are totally flexible (like the dancers)! Find out more here. 

This week's video is a meditation focussed on helping you to be more self-aware and more mindful. Make sure to carve the time into your busy schedule to follow it. Who knows what inspiration you may get to stay forever young.
