Happy June Bank Holiday (In Ireland)! I hope you are having a beautiful and well-deserved rest. 

17 years ago on Saturday just gone, I got married! Now when I look my photo, at 28 years young, I feel like a different person. I know that the core  of who I am is and will always be the same, however, my energy is so much better now. How I view the world has shifted significantly oh... and I definitely have a lot fewer wrinkles! Ah well...nothing is perfect! 

A wedding anniversary (or indeed any anniversary) brings up many memories and often mixed emotions. These memories often go way beyond the person we married - we can be reminded of loved ones who were guests at the wedding and who are sadly now no longer alive, or we might recall the tensions on the day.

Memories, like life itself, are never purely black or white and yet we tend to look back with either rose-tinted glasses or the darkest shades. While it is paramount for positive mental health to accept ourselves as we are now, it is also helpful to accept our past selves and in doing so let go of regret or shame. 

One thing I am totally certain of is that, the more energy and love I have given to the relationship I have with myself, the happier my marriage and all my other relationships have become. 

Reflect for a moment on how you feel about your various younger selves.
