Mark Pollock: How to Achieve More than You Thought Possible

Jim Lucey and Paul Roe - Building Emotional Resilience

Mark Pollock – Explorer, Speaker & Founder

Unbroken by blindness, in 1998 Mark emerged as an adventure athlete, competing in ultra-endurance races across deserts, mountains, and polar ice caps. Notably, he became the first blind person to race to the South Pole. Mark also clinched silver and bronze medals for rowing at the Commonwealth Games and established a renowned international motivational speaking business.

In 2010, a fall from a second-story window nearly claimed his life. The accident left Mark with a broken back and paralyzed from the waist down. Undeterred, he embarked on a new expedition, exploring the intersection of humanity and technology to cure paralysis within our lifetime.

As Chairman of Collaborative Cures and the visionary behind the global running series, ‘Run in the Dark,’ Mark has spearheaded collaborations exceeding $100 million in his quest to cure paralysis.

Author of ‘Making It Happen’, Mark is the subject of acclaimed documentaries such as ‘Blind Man Walking’ and ‘Unbreakable – The Mark Pollock Story’. His resilience has been recognized with honorary doctorates from The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and Queens University Belfast. Additionally, he holds a Diploma in Global Leadership and Public Policy for the 21st Century from Harvard University, along with degrees from Trinity College Dublin and UCD Smurfit Graduate Business School.
