Positivity is a skill that can be learnt like any other skill: once mastered you will automatically start to develop healthier habits that reflect your positive mindset.

The Positive Habit program is designed to help you to embrace and maintain a healthy mindset that will set you on the path to reach your full potential on an emotional, spiritual, mental and physical level. It is a clear, evidence-based and powerful course: each module or pathway has a number of units which contain reading, some simple exercises and a corresponding self-hypnosis audio MP3.

If you choose to actively engage with this course as thousands before you have, it could transform your levels of stress, anxiety and self-doubt into calmness, liberation and confidence. 

Please note the aim of this course is not to create ‘toxic positivity’ and as I point out in my best-selling book, The Positive Habit (same name – different content) the most positive thing we can do for our mental health is to feel our negative emotions.  It is essential to accept ourselves as we are, our thoughts, feelings and emotions and not to deny or suppress the many difficulties of being human.  It is important to accept, to understand and to have great compassion for yourself in moments of fear and anxiety.  Being positive is not a plaster to put on emotional wounds, it is a genuine skill based on the science of positive psychology, neuroscience and mindfulness that will help you to navigate your life and develop a robust resilience to cope with whatever comes your way. 

The audios play an integral role in your progress as they work on a subconscious level so please make sure to listen to them everyday – remember if you miss a day, just start again! No pressure. 

At the end of each pathway you will take the Positive Feelings Survey to measure how you are feeling and we hope see your positivity levels rise the more often you engage with the course.

The Positive Habit program is unique because it works on a conscious and subconscious level by literally changing your neural pathways and connections to serve you more positively. The exercises are designed to create an experience that is tailored to your specific needs and focused on your desired outcome. You will learn a lot about yourself and self-knowledge is self-power. 

Scientific evidence shows that you can change your brain by altering your thoughts, perceptions and experiences. This is known as ‘neuroplasticity’. Simply put, the brain is similar in consistency to a piece of play-dough and can be endlessly shaped and reshaped depending on how it is used. In children and young adults (up to the age of 25 or so) plasticity happens naturally and is totally experienced based, this is why our formative years are so important. However, if you had a difficult childhood and/or tumultuous teenage years, please do not worry – it is never too late to change negative patterns into positive ones.  In adulthood we need to self-direct plasticity by choosing to create positive thoughts and soak in feel-good emotions and this course will teach you to do just that!

Neuroplasticity occurs not at the time of learning something new but when we are asleep OR in what Stanford University Professor of Neuroscience, Dr. Andrew Huberman refers to as NSDR – Non Sleep Deep Rest.  NSDR is taking twenty-minutes or so to carry out a deep relaxation protocol such as hypnotherapy or yoga nidra, even a light nap while listening to music will suffice.  It is in this period of relaxation that our brains start to fire new neural pathways that have previously been marked for change.  You will have experienced this many times without realising it, for example, think back to a time when you learnt something new like an instrument or a new language, you will have found it difficult and frustrating at the time yet when you returned to the task the next day after a good nights sleep it will be much easier for you. Your brain can be re-wired to learn the language of emotional intelligence and positive emotions. 

The brain is also like a muscle – it grows and becomes stronger when actively engaged. The ‘old’ model of the brain was based on the understanding that after childhood the brain was largely set and unchangeable; this included negative behavioural patterns such as worry, anxiety and depression. Due to the onset of FMRI scans of the brain we now know that this is simply not true and that our brains can be rewired. You can ‘shape’ your brain according to your desires; you can be the author of your own life. How empowering is that?

Think of a farmer walking down a path to feed his cattle. Every day he opens the gate and walks down the same path to the field. This action becomes an automatic and well-established habit. Imagine that this path represents negative or limited thinking. One day, the farmer consciously decides to walk a different route – let‘s imagine the new path represents positive or open thinking. When he first starts walking on the new path he will have to remind himself each time he does this of his decision. After some time and a lot of determination, the new path will become his automatic route and the subconscious mind has been retrained. This will be explored in more detail as you progress through the program and you start to experience this training in action. Your subconscious learns best from memories with strong emotional context and direct experience so the more I can help you to soak in the suggestions you will carve out an established positive pathway in your own brain. Your brain is similar to the farmers pathway and the more often you think in a positive way, the easier it becomes to establish the neural connections that make the new path an automatic habit. 

By harnessing the power of your subconscious mind through conscious self-control you will create the positive shift you deserve. Your mind is the driver of your brain. You will create a classroom of positivity where your mind is the teacher and your brain is the student. Through repetition, like children learning their times-tables, you will carve out new and positive pathways that become automatic over time. This is the creation of The Positive Habit and I am so happy that you are here. 

By changing your thought processes firstly on a conscious and then on a subconscious level, you will start to think of yourself and the world around you in a much more positive way. You will become more calm and at ease and will develop the core belief that you can accomplish your goals with ease.
