About Clare

Clare McKenna is an author, TEDx speaker, broadcaster, health coach and wellness expert with more than 25 years’ experience in TV and radio. She’s best known for presenting Alive and Kicking, Newstalk’s health and wellbeing show, which she began hosting in 2019 and which sparked her own deep exploration into how to live well in the busy, modern world.

Alongside her broadcasting work, Clare trained as an Integrative Health Coach with the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and is a qualified breathwork teacher, blending lifestyle medicine and holistic health approaches in her work.

Her first book, Would You Be Well?: Cut Through the Overwhelm to Find a Happier You, offers a compassionate, down-to-earth guide to wellbeing that emphasises small, achievable habits and cutting through the noise of modern wellness culture.

Clare also speaks at and hosts events on topics like gut health, breaking free from diet culture, and why wellbeing shouldn’t feel overwhelming, helping people find what works for them rather than following rigid rules.

She lives in Dublin and champions a personalised, compassionate approach to health and wellbeing.

Start living well — on your own terms. An interactive webinar on finding balance, ease & joy in the everyday.

The world of modern wellness can often be overwhelming paradoxically creating the very things in us that we don’t want – stress and anxiety. Rather than prescribing rigid rules or extreme routines, McKenna encourages a more compassionate, personalised approach to health, happiness and everyday wellness, helping to build a lifestyle that genuinely works for everyone.

Key to Clare’s approach are the following:

  • Cutting through wellness noise — she argues that things like meditation, movement, manifesting and other wellness fads can become just another item on an already long to-do list, and instead she encourages us to step back from that pressure.

  • Mindset shifts — she argues that mental approaches to wellbeing, helping you rethink how you approach health and balance are crucial.

  • Small, manageable habits — instead of pushing for dramatic lifestyle overhauls (like waking up at 5 a.m. or strict diets), she focuses on “small step” rituals that fit into real life and are easier to sustain.

  • Living well on your terms — the ultimate goal is to create a routine that supports your own well-being — considering your work, family and circumstances — and gives you permission to slow down and feel good, without judgment or comparison.

Clare’s approach is compassionate, accessible and down-to-earth and not prescriptive. She aims to help you find balance, joy and ease in a way that suits your life.
